Hi there! My name is Sonia. I am a compassionate and dedicated student counsellor with a strong foundation in trauma-informed care, Reiki healing, and holistic mental health support. My approach integrates a range of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, nervous system regulation, shadow work, somatic healing, and energy work, to help clients achieve balance in their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

In a session with me, we don’t just engage in talk therapy; we explore you as a whole being, addressing all facets of the human experience—not just the mind.

My approach centres on guiding individuals to reconnect with their personal truth through working with the nervous system, emotional processing, and creating a safe and non-judgemental environment for individuals to explore their depths and connect with their inner wisdom.

Having navigated my own healing journey of discovering my self-worth and working through deep wounds, I bring a profound personal understanding of the challenges involved in processing repressed emotions and rediscovering one’s sense of self. This journey deeply informs my ability to empathize with and support individuals as they embark on their own healing paths.

I offer a safe, nurturing space where individuals can develop healthy coping strategies and reclaim their inner power in order to confidently navigate life’s challenges.

I have had a keen interest in mental health and psychology my whole life, partly because I always wondered why I felt so different from other people… Now that I can make sense of my own inner world (most of the time!) I want to help others do the same.

As a Counsellor, I pull from multiple modalities I have learned along the way- however- I don’t want to do traditional “talk therapy.” I want to tap into the knowledge of the body- by doing this we can start embodying what we truly value and desire- and come home to ourselves. I want to slooooow it down. (Enter Benson Boon, no front flips required) If this sparks, your interest, feel free to reach out :)

Hi, I’m Sara, and I’m so glad you’re here.

If you’ve been searching for a holistic approach to healing—one that sees you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms—you’re in the right place. I am a Holistic Counsellor-to-be, Life Coach, and Nutritionist specializing in integrative mental health for PTSD and complex trauma. My work is deeply informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory (PVT), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Shamanic Healing, and Nature-Based Therapy (NBT), creating a personalized healing experience that nourishes the mind, body, and spirit.

Healing is not just about surviving—it’s about thriving.

Over the past 15+ years, I’ve worked with people from all walks of life, helping them reconnect with their inner wisdom, process trauma, and transform adversity into resilience. My practice is a place for holistic care, allowing clients to build safety and trust while addressing their mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

My Journey: From Survival to Thriving.

My passion for trauma counselling is deeply personal and was catalyzed by a distinct life transition. As a PTSD and complex trauma survivor, I know what it’s like to feel lost, overwhelmed, and disconnected. A pivotal moment in my life came when my family and I survived a Category 5 hurricane, experiencing profound loss and displacement. That experience ignited my commitment to understanding trauma on a deeper level—not just emotionally but physiologically and spiritually.

This path led me to explore various healing modalities, from traditional psychology to functional medicine, somatics, psychedelic preparation and integration and ancestral wisdom. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and am currently completing a Professional Counsellor Diploma at Rhodes Wellness College—a program that aligns with my belief in experiential, practitioner-based learning. I am also a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, Life Coach, Integrative Mental Health Medicine Provider, Functional Medicine Practitioner and Somatic Plant Medicine Integration Coach. My practice interweaves the worlds of functional health, mental health and trauma.

A Global Perspective on Healing.

Having lived and worked in Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Costa Rica, Canada, and Mexico, I deeply understand culture shock, reverse culture shock, migratory grief, and the mental health challenges of expats, immigrants and cross-cultural families. My work supports individuals navigating these transitions, fostering resilience and empowerment in unfamiliar landscapes.

I am also a homeschooling mother of two, which gives me a unique perspective on parenting, education, and family dynamics. I provide parenting support, homeschooling/unschooling coaching, and guidance for Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs), helping them embrace their sensitivity as a strength.

Let’s Begin Your Healing Journey.

From personal experience and professional expertise, I offer a compassionate, client-centered space where you can reclaim your story, reconnect with your body, and step into a new chapter of life—one filled with nourishment, empowerment, and self-discovery.

If this resonates with you, let’s connect for a free 15-minute Discovery Call. Together, we can create a path forward that honours who you are, where you’ve been, and where you’re meant to go.

You deserve to thrive. Let’s begin.
